Hi there, my name is Alan Lee and I've been in private clinical practice since 1993 after graduating from Oxford School Of Osteopathy. I've treated quite a few patients in that time from two month old babies to my eldest patient a lovely lady from Prestwick in Scotland who was 102. Believe me for 102 she was as sharp as a tack and had a sense of humour like no other!

People ask me how I got into osteopathic medicine and teaching yoga. Well in 1989 I badly damaged my back and to be frank I didn't know pain like that existed ! From a lifting incident where I turned carrying a very heavy load ( definitely NOT recommended ) my legs literally went from underneath me. It turned out I had prolapsed a disc and, after refusing surgery, so began a rather transformative journey lasting more than a few years.
I had been a computer programmer and systems analyst ( very sedentary ) who had developed an interest in the healing arts much to stay as far away from doctors as I could. But the back injury was a very, very steep learning curve. Of course I tried the mainstream approach - medication, physiotherapy and tried to fight my way through it. But to cut a long story short, that approach did very little to help me out of the problem. In fact, it did nothing.
So I found a great osteopath who showed me the ropes, diagnosed me properly ( ! ) and started out ... slowly and carefully ... brought me out of the mess I was in. Turning to yoga accelerated my progress. Yoga, done correctly and according to your capabilities, is a game changer for ANYONE suffering from back, neck or joint pain.
And the rest is history. I was so impressed with the progress that I made from osteopathy and yoga combined that I decided on a career change and went back to college at the age of thirty.
